Bluefin Resources are working with a prestigious federal government enterprise to recruit a Data and Information Governance Lead.

We are looking for a collaborative and experienced Data and Information Governance Lead to act as a data champion within the organisation and be responsible for leading and maturing a new governance program that ensures data and information are well organised, high quality, accessible and properly managed.

**The Role**

The role will help deliver on the organisation's Data and Information Management Roadmaps, developing and embedding required policies, standards, and practises. The Data and Information Governance Lead will also be hands on and able to work with business units to understand their data needs and problems, help solve data quality and availability issues and work with IT/technical staff to implement recommended solutions to achieve organisational goals.

**Responsibilities - **Day to day activities and responsibilities**

**Governance**
- Lead on an organisation-wide data governance, data quality, data and information management roadmap based on best practice standards, including necessary IT solutions and/or external services
- Help uplift organisational data maturity and quality assurance processes across various business units, in particular regulatory complaint handling
- Serve as a liaison between the business and IT and ensure that data related requirements are clearly defined, prioritised, and well understood
- Drive the development and ongoing adoption of Data Glossaries, Data Dictionaries and associated tools
- Engage with key stakeholders when procuring new systems/data to ensure compliance with policies
- Work with business units to help solve data quality and availability issues and work with IT/technical staff to implement solutions
- Create and maintain Data Governance policies, playbook(s), processes, procedures for guiding various data management processes, including adoption of data security and privacy, data quality control and data dissemination activities
- Align data management practices with regulatory requirements
- Establish links between information, data, IT and corporate governance
- Work with Data Architect to develop and roll-out policies and procedures to protect privacy, security, accuracy, and the ethical use of data as well as set standards for use of data tools across business units.
- Provide guidance to staff on best practice information and data management approaches.
- Act as a SME and champion in the implementation of any new data, information and records management systems

**Compliance**
- Plan and manage data compliance monitoring and reporting activities.
- Interpret regulatory requirements, legislation, and policies relevant to information and data management and provide advice on their implications.
- Understand the value of information and data as critical assets that need to be managed and preserved throughout their entire lifecycle, including disposal to reduce information holdings in accordance with legislation.

**Adoption**
- Advocate for, champion, and explain, information and data management responsibilities, principles, and processes to embed data driven decision making
- Proactively champion the value of information (data) as a strategic asset by providing the business and strategy teams with ideas and promoting those ideas into action; including developing and implementing communication, learning, change management and adoption plans.
- Work on strategies to help build an organisational culture that values information and data including training and supporting key roles as the organisation matures.
- Chair and support working groups consisting of Data Stewards to ensure Data and Information management governance is embedded

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 5 years demonstrated Data and/or Information management experience
- Strong working knowledge of data quality management and governance practices
- Strong understanding of information management lifecycle practices
- Demonstrated experience working directly with business units as a Data SME, mapping processes, identifying opportunities, and helping identify and solve data quality issues
- Strong experience in policy, process, and procedure development
- Strong background in change management
- Experience with information and data management best practise user adoption
- Collaborative problem solver than can resolve or escalate issues
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent written documentation skills
- Proactive in knowledge sharing and providing guidance to users

**Desirable**
- Background in regulatory data management
- Strong background in using tools to prepare, extract and manipulate data
- Strong understanding of data analysis, analytics, and visualisation approaches
- Experience implementing data analysis and visualisatio
