Lead daily pit activities, supervise a skilled geology team, and drive best practice in grade control, mapping, modelling, and reconciliation. Acting as 2IC to the Geology Superintendent, you'll play a key role in technical leadership and strategic decision-making on site. This is a key leadership opportunity in a technically rich mining geology environment, ideal for experienced geologists ready to take the next step.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and mentor a team of 3 Geologists and 6 Pit Technicians
* Oversee daily geological pit activities, sampling, mapping, drilling and QA/QC tasks
* Ensure safe work practices and compliance with site safety standards
* Execute and manage grade control programs including sampling, modelling, and daily ore/waste delineation
* Deliver accurate and timely geological interpretations and models using Vulcan and Leapfrog
* Contribute to block modelling and provide inputs to mine planning and scheduling teams
* Monitor and report on ore reconciliation, dilution, and recovery metrics
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (minimum requirement)
Experience
* Minimum 7+ years' experience in mine geology and open pit mining geology, ideally in gold operations
* Strong background in grade control, block modelling, and resource reconciliation
* Previous supervisory or team lead experience is essential
Software Proficiency
* Vulcan (preferred)
* Leapfrog (preferred)
* OrePro
* acQuire (data management)
* Competence with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word for reporting and data analysis

* Proven commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
