We are looking for a highly organised Production & Editorial Assistant who can assist with the end-to-end publishing cycle of our teacher planners, student diaries and other printed resources across the Createl and Veritatis brands. Our Production Team are at the centre of maintaining and improving our product range, quality and competitiveness.
Reporting to the Production & Editorial Manager, this role is offered as a full-time, 1 year fixed-term position with the strong possibility of permanent tenure.
About the Role
As a Production & Editorial Assistant, you will be a key part of our Production Team. Reporting to the Production & Editorial Manager, you will work closely with designers, writers, editors, typesetters, local and overseas printers and internal staff to help revise, edit, proof and send our products to print within strict timeframes. Timing and accuracy are critical to our operations.
Our publishing staff are fully immersed in assisting schools with their custom orders. You will manage a portfolio of schools who work with Createl each year to produce their customised diaries and planners. You will work proactively in campaigns to grow our base of school customers.
The role is ideal for a highly organised and methodical candidate with a strong understanding of print production, proven editorial skills, a keen interest in the publishing process and a strong aptitude to liaise with schools, suppliers and stakeholders with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the revising, editing and proofing of our teacher planners, student diaries, accessories and other products to an exceptional standard.
* Liaise as directed with designers, writers, editors, typesetters, local and overseas printers and internal staff to obtain quotes, manage artwork and content intake, and ensure final proofs meet the publishing and production schedule while being cost effective to the business.
* Coordinate the publishing, production and distribution of a portfolio of school clients with customised student and / or teacher diary orders from quoting to final dispatch
* Maintain accurate records of quotes, production spreadsheets, editing notes, version control, purchase orders and other necessary processes
* Assist with the coordination of product, industry, market and competitor research to support product development.
* Assist with proofing and editing of print and digital marketing assets
* Source and secure licences, permissions and copyright for content from relevant organisations
* Engage in campaigns to grow our base of school customers
* Support our day-to-day customer service, sales and fulfilment operations as required
About You
Essential
* Previous experience and / or sound knowledge in print production
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
* Proven ability to operate in a diverse, fast-paced and dynamic environment
* Demonstrated ability to manage time, tasks, priorities and tight deadlines
* Clear and professional communication skills

* Previous experience and / or qualifications in publishing

* Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite
