An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Communicable Diseases Prevention Unit.
The Team:
The Communicable Disease Prevention Unit (CDPU) comprises three divisions: Immunisation, Health Intelligence, and Response including Infection Prevention and Control. The primary purpose of the CDPU is to prevent and control communicable diseases within Tasmania. We actively engage with the public and collaborate closely with stakeholders to prevent and respond effectively to notifiable diseases.
The CDPU has delegated statutory responsibility for aspects of thePublic Health Act 1997 and for thePoisons Regulations 2018 relating to immunisation. We receive notifications of communicable diseases from laboratories and medical practitioners as stipulated in theGuidelines for Notifying Diseases and Food Contaminants.
The Role:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Communicable Diseases has a statewide role and functions as a specialist clinical practitioner within the Communicable Diseases Prevention Unit (CDPU) providing expertise and guidance to the Department of Health and other health care providerson the delivery of public health nursing services through assessment, advice, and management of all aspects of notifiable diseases.
You will need:
* Demonstrated experience in notifiable communicable disease prevention, with well-developed experience in leadership, professional judgement and initiative to support decision making.
* Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Proven experience of working collaboratively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team with evidence of advanced interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage conflict.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until1 June 2026.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordancewithNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
