campus is seeking an
Academic Manager
to work as a key part of our small academic team. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, and working closely with colleagues across other campus locations, this role is ideal for a self-motivated ESL professional seeking a long-term position with our organisation.
The role, based in Byron Bay, will focus on providing high level academic support to the Operations Manager.
Essential criteria
Bachelor's Degree and CELTA (or equivalent) (DELTA qualification desirable)
Relevant ELICOS experience in a management or supervisory role in Australia
Exposure to, or direct experience in managing ELICOS programs, possibly as a Senior Teacher or A-DOS
Strong management and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to engage, motivate and manage teacher performance
Excellent standard of written and spoken communication
Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across all areas of the company
A warm, empathetic manner in dealing with students
Although a complete position description will be negotiated with the successful applicant, key tasks for the position include, up to 60% face to face teaching and the balance dedicated to student support and academic co-ordination
Key responsibilities
Support of teaching staff
Interview and trial new teachers as required
Provide teaching schedules and timetables
Observe teachers and provide feedback
Liaise between teachers and administration
Provide professional support as needed to Senior Teacher and all teaching staff
Mentor young teachers as needed
Organise relief teachers
Provide reference letters when asked
Order student and teacher text books as needed
Student Administration
Test, interview and place new students
Counsel, support and give academic advice as necessary
Advise prospective students on study options and assist with enrolment processes
Liaise with exam managers as needed
School Administration
Attend weekly management meetings
Liaise with Tour Groups Manager
Liaise with Agents as required
Previous experience with Cambridge English Exams, including coordination and delivery
