Job Reference: About the Role:
Curtin University is offering a full-time (1.0 FTE) 2-year contract for a Business Manager to work across the Curtin enAble Institute and Curtin Medical Research Institute. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the directors and management teams in business and strategy development and in resource planning and allocation and operational management of the Institutes.
The Business Manager will oversee all business functions, which involve managing complex organisational structures, budgets, and activities. As the key liaison officer, the Business Manager will interact with internal service providers and with internal and external stakeholders to support the Institutes' current activities and objectives and identify opportunities for future growth.
In addition, the role will lead the development of commercial partnerships, fee-for-service models, industry-funded PhD programmes and other translational initiatives for the Curtin Medical Research Institute. This role is essential for ensuring the sustainability of the Institutes and for efficient and effective management of operations.
Selection Criteria – who we are looking for:
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience in business management within a complex organisation; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
2. Experience in a leadership and management role with demonstrated achievement of results through the tactical use of resources to support business needs.
3. Demonstrated experience in business planning through detailed research and analysis on a range of issues and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate business improvement strategies.
4. Demonstrated team leadership and management skills with the ability to create and maintain an effective and efficient team culture.
5. A strong understanding of financial and budget management.
6. Demonstrated high-level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to resolve stakeholder concerns.
7. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence others and a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
* Completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of research environments within the tertiary education sector.
* Demonstrated ability to establish commercial research partnerships, contract service models and industry-funded training schemes.
Role Requirements:
* As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
