About the Role
A leading renewable energy client is seeking an experienced Senior Development Engineer (Electrical) to join its Major Projects team. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a portfolio of utility‐scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
As a key member of the technical group, you will support project development from early concept through to final design, working closely with internal teams, external consultants, equipment suppliers, and EPC contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development of overall project electrical architecture and grid connection arrangements.
* Support the selection and evaluation of major electrical and power system equipment.
* Prepare and review functional specifications for large‐scale solar and battery storage projects.
* Assist with tendering processes and participate in technical negotiations for major contracts.
* Support the preparation of cost estimates related to various design options and project scopes.
* Define, scope, and specify early site investigations and early works requirements.
* Manage and review preliminary engineering designs prepared by EPC contractors.
* Oversee technical interfaces between multiple contracting parties and ensure alignment across workstreams.
* Review detailed engineering designs and actively participate in EPC design workshops.
* Provide general project management support and contribute to broader development activities across the project lifecycle.
About You – Key Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
* A degree in Electrical Engineering with experience in utility‐scale solar and/or battery storage project development.
* Strong knowledge of HV electrical systems and protection concept design.
* Understanding of SCADA, automation, and control systems for renewable energy assets.
* Ability to contribute across a wide range of technical and development challenges, with a willingness to learn new skills.
* Solid understanding of typical delivery models for large renewable energy projects in the Australian market.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
* Strong organisational skills and comfort managing multiple concurrent tasks and priorities.
