Opportunity Overview:
RBC is expanding its presence in Australia and invites a junior/entry-level candidate to join the Australian Equity Research team in Sydney or Melbourne. This role involves conducting fundamental analysis of Australian companies operating within the global industrials sectors.
You will support Lead Analysts and have opportunities to lead coverage of specific companies within 3-5 years based on performance.
Responsibilities
* Develop and update operational and financial models using data from public sources.
* Analyze company operations, market environment, and industry dynamics to gain a deeper understanding.
* Examine financial statements and maintain historical data for referenced companies.
* Create business and operational forecasts utilizing Excel.
* Evaluate companies using methods like Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and comparable multiples.
* Publish high-quality research reports and presentations.
* Maintain industry data databases to enhance research insights.
* Assist Lead Analysts in responding to investor inquiries.
* Identify and assess various risks associated with covered companies.
* Nurture industry relationships to enrich research findings.
Requirements
Must-Have
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related fields.
* At least 2 years of full-time work experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
* Strong passion for equity markets and finance.
* Commitment to learning about industry sectors and companies.
* Attention to detail and ability to discern key insights.
* Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to gather and synthesize data from multiple sources.
* Effective prioritization and multitasking skills.
* Capacity to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexibility and openness to challenges; willingness to travel if needed.
Nice-to-Have
* Experience working with industrial companies/sectors.
* Professional certifications such as CFA or relevant postgraduate studies.
* Familiarity with Factset or Bloomberg terminals.
