The Position:
St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Retail Shop Manager to lead one of our retail store in Adelaide, Waymouth Street.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the effective and compliant operation of the shop, leading people, resources, and daily activities to achieve strong retail performance that directly supports positive community outcomes. You will manage the sale of donated goods, foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all visitors, and nurture a diverse team of volunteers, playing a vital role in funding programs that alleviate poverty and hardship across South Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the day-to-day operations of the shop to achieve sales outcomes that directly support the Society's charitable mission, while maintaining high standards of presentation and customer service, including assisting customers using vouchers.
* Provide visible, values-based leadership to volunteers and employees, including rostering, training, supervision, and development
* Oversee stock control, merchandising, pricing, and donation processing to maximise sales and customer experience
* Ensure accurate financial administration, including POS reporting, cash handling, banking, and compliance with financial controls
* Maintain compliance with WHS, risk management, security, and Society policies and procedures
* Build positive relationships with local Conferences, Shared Services teams, and community stakeholders
* Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and shop performance

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies) is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for or alleviate the needs of disadvantaged people in the community. The Society is committed to addressing poverty and hardship through direct support and advocacy.
In South Australia, The Society has over 2,500 members and volunteers, 140 employees, 35 shops, 10 Fred's Van locations, a Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service, and both Men's and Women's Crisis Centres. Our local member networks, known as Conferences, are active in over 56 communities across the state. Together, we are all playing our part to create positive change.
Our retail network of stores plays an important role in delivering on our Mission, as proceeds from sales go directly into funding various programs such as providing emergency relief, accommodation assistance, food support, and other services.
About You:
You are a confident and capable retail leader who thrives in a hands-on environment and leads with empathy, accountability, and professionalism. You will bring:
* Proven experience managing a retail store and achieving sales and operational targets
* Strong people leadership skills, with preferable experience leading volunteers and or diverse teams
* Sound knowledge of retail operations, including stock control, merchandising, and financial reporting
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Alignment with Vinnies' mission, values, and commitment to community impact
* Experience in a not-for-profit or volunteer-led organisation (desirable)

Special Requirements:
