KSC 1: Expert knowledge of post-school pathways including TAFE, university, apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment options.
KSC 2: Proven ability to develop professional knowledge, build network connections, and gain experience to effectively deliver Careers Education including case management, course counselling, facilitating Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) and work placement opportunities for young people participating in SWL.
KSC 3: Demonstrated exceptional communication skills with a range of stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, support staff, employers, tertiary providers and other relevant agencies and organisations.
KSC 4: Experience conducting meaningful Career Action Plan interviews with students, guiding them to improve their understanding of pathway options, VTAC prerequisites, and subject selection, while effectively utilising software such as Career Tools and VTAC.

Fountain Gate Secondary College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Careers Practitioner to join our Careers & Pathways team. This role is vital in supporting students from Years 7¿12 to explore future opportunities, make informed choices, and successfully transition from school into further education, training, or employment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Careers Practitioner will:
* Assist in the coordination, delivery and administration of a range of career support services across the school involving a range of work areas: Career Counselling, Year 7 & 8 'Career Exploration' through the Thrive program, Year 9 'Career Insight' through the Thrive Program, Year 9 Morrisby, Year 10 FutureME & Work Experience program, Year 11 & 12 Careers & Pathways Programs, VTAC, SEAS, Scholarships and Strategic Partnership Access and Pathways programs, VET, Structured Workplace Learning, SBAT's, Career Action Plans, Subject & Course Selections, Case Management of students at risks and Transition from school exemptions and exits.
* Advise the whole school community in best practices in Careers Education, including VET, Structured Workplace Learning, Work Experience and all career matters, e.g., Process, Policy, Outcomes & Programs.
* Provide professional counselling services to students and record all interviews in an electronic database.
* Undertake Career Action Plan's interviews with Year students, including students at risk and students looking to exit, providing expertise and advice for students regarding careers, courses and pathways.
* Run careers-based sessions via assemblies and in classes.
* Collaborate and liaise with the Year level teams regularly to improve the work-readiness of students.
* Manage and coordinate regular meetings with the Year level Leaders.
* Develop links with agencies to organise mock interviews.
* Assist students to apply for courses, training and employment opportunities.
* Deliver VTAC & Pathway materials and undertake VTAC & Pathway interviews with each Year 12 VCE student seeking tertiary further studies or employment.
* Target students for industry-based excursions, programs and guest speakers.
* Ensure knowledge and expertise are kept updated regarding career trends, workforce changes and job opportunities to assist students in gaining employment.
* Work collaboratively with parents, Wellbeing, Administration, Leadership teams and external organisations to support students transitioning to further education, training, or employment.
* Work with, assist and participate actively in various Career events.
* Develop strong relationships with commercial partners, community organisations, and the employment sector to benefit students.
* Develop and utilise networks to actively research new opportunities for FGSC.
* Engage with the Head Start program to support students access to appropriate apprenticeships and traineeship pathway opportunities.
* Provide support and assistance to students who have exited (aged 15+) and follow-up tracking six months after exit.
* Assist with the Destination Data follow-up tracking six months after exit.
* Be committed to lifelong learning and undertake appropriate professional development.
* Attend outside agency meetings such as Careers Practitioners Seminars & DVCEA meetings.
* Act as a resource for students, staff, parents, community, employer groups, career and tertiary personnel.
* Attend required SSG meetings to support students.
* Participate in Parent/Teacher interviews, information and course advice evenings for subject selection.
* Provide feedback and knowledge to Assistant Principal's, leaders and teachers to ensure a collaborative approach to learning, ensure the success of careers-based programs and ultimately improve student outcomes.
* Cooperate fully with requests by the Careers Development & Pathways Leader and School Leadership team.

Fountain Gate Secondary College is located in the City of Casey in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 40 kilometres from the Melbourne Central Business District. The school was registered as a Year 7-12 provider in 2009, and prior to that, was a Year 7-10 campus of Eumemmerring College.
Enrolments are approximately 1222 students. The Student Family Occupation Education (SFOE) index was in 2024. The staffing profile of Fountain Gate Secondary College includes a Principal, 5 Assistant Principals, 10 Leading Teachers, 9 Learning Specialists, 74.2 Teachers and 49.9 Education Support (ES) staff.
Fountain Gate Secondary College provides a Year 7 to Year 12 learning program through the Victorian Curriculum, the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Victorian Certificate of Education ¿ Vocation Major (VCE-VM) and a range of Victorian Education and Training (VET) offerings.
