Overview
We're looking for a detail-driven Payroll Officer to join us at Brisbane Head Office and support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring payroll transactions are processed smoothly, payments are compliant, and employees are paid correctly every time.
Responsibilities
* Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring all employee payments comply with company obligations and relevant legislation.
* Administer new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, leave, and allowances efficiently, maintaining accurate records.
* Ensure compliance with PAYG, Payroll Tax, Workcover, superannuation, and other statutory obligations, including timely reporting and payments.
* Prepare end-of-month payroll journals, reconciliations, and management reports to support financial and operational decision-making.
* Collaborate with HR, Finance, Management, and Auditors to maintain strong internal controls, risk management, and payroll system improvements.
* Promote a safe, secure, and compliant workplace while delivering excellent service to staff and fostering positive interdepartmental relationships.
Who we are looking for / Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years' end-to-end payroll experience with strong knowledge of employment law and taxation requirements.
* Skilled in payroll systems (preferably CHRIS21 or similar) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Ability to interpret industrial instruments, employment contracts, and legislative obligations accurately.
* Strong focus on customer service with excellent communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
* Demonstrated initiative, analytical thinking, and commitment to maintaining high standards in payroll processing.
