A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to lead the delivery of hydraulic building services projects across Western Australia. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a leadership role combining technical design, project management, team leadership, and client engagement. You will take ownership of project outcomes from concept through to construction while developing and mentoring a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop Hydraulic Engineers and Drafters. Drive team performance through effective planning, leadership, and resource allocation. Support the professional development of team members to ensure technical growth and consistency. Coordinate workflow and priorities across internal teams. Project Delivery Lead hydraulic design delivery across all project phases from concept to construction. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and client expectations. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and external consultants. Lead internal and external project meetings, ensuring clear outcomes and documentation. Technical Design & Quality Assurance Prepare and review hydraulic design documentation, calculations, and construction/tender packages. Perform independent design checks and technical reviews of engineering work. Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality of all deliverables. Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, NCC, and relevant codes. Undertake hydraulic calculations including pump sizing, tank sizing, stormwater systems, and sprinkler systems. Apply value engineering principles to deliver practical and cost-effective design solutions. Client & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors. Manage client communication and ensure clear, consistent project updates. Identify and manage variations to scope in line with fee proposals. Consolidate RFIs/TQs across disciplines to ensure clear and efficient communication. Systems & Compliance Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and systems. Maintain accurate project records, including progress updates and billable hours in the job management system. Monitor project compliance, documentation, and quality assurance standards. About You Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Hydraulic Engineering or related discipline. CPEng and/or NER highly regarded. Experience 10 years' post-graduate experience in building services consultancy. Proven experience leading teams and managing engineering projects. Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience. Technical Skills Hydraulic design including: Pump and tank sizing Stormwater systems Fire/sprinkler systems Strong understanding of Australian Standards and NCC requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail. Personal Attributes Strong leadership and team development capability.
