Electrical Project Engineer Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to oversee and manage projects from conception to completion. The successful candidate will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with Australian standards.
* Developing in-house electrical designs for solar farms and BESS, including single-line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing, and equipment selection.
* Supporting procurement by preparing technical specifications, evaluating supplier proposals, and ensuring equipment selection aligns with project requirements.
* Supporting subcontracted consultants in developing detailed designs and verifying deliverables for compliance with technical specifications.
* Contributing to early-stage tendering processes by evaluating technical feasibility and developing preliminary designs for solar farms and BESS.
* Providing engineering support during construction and commissioning, resolving technical issues, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications.
* Reviewing test results and ensuring proper commissioning of electrical systems while maintaining up-to-date records of engineering deliverables.
* Ensuring electrical designs comply with Australian Standards, Grid Codes, and project specifications, and supporting the development of as-built documentation.
* Proactively identifying and mitigating design and procurement risks, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality engineering designs and documentation.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers to align electrical engineering with other project disciplines.
* Contributing to new business initiatives and promoting high technical standards within the team.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in project engineering or a related role.
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in large-scale solar farms, BESS, or power generation projects.
* Strong project management skills, including ability to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience with project management software and tools.
