**Arts Practitioner -Facilitating Artist**

**About the Role**

Arthur Creative offers a range of arts-based workshops for emerging and established artists with disability. Arthur supports artists to explore their creative abilities or to build a career in the arts. Visual arts, performing arts, film and photography, screen printing and product development make up the core program. Artists could exhibit and sell their artwork at different events, arts festivals, and gallery pop-ups in the region.

We are seeking a **Casual Arts Practitioner -Facilitating Artist **to join our Arthur Creative service division. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and implement an innovative and creative arts program that is both empowering and fun. Our program is participant-driven, emphasizing active choice and engagement from all artists involved.

Additionally, you will ensure that each artist's personal artistic and social skills are recognised and nurtured. The program will celebrate and reflect the diversity of the group, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's unique contributions are valued.

**What you'll be doing (Key accountabilities)**

The Employee is responsible for the artistic component of the project and specifically to:

- In consultation with program staff and participating artists, develop and review individual creative goals, and ensure that the studio activities meet the stated objectives of each participating artist.
- Liaise with relevant support staff and resources in the implementation of the project.
- Support and encourage participating artists in the development of their artistic practice and objectives within the context of the studio.
- Purchase/coordinate materials as required, in consultation with the coordinator within budget.
- Regularly consult with the coordinator to debrief on the studio's experiences, communicate any difficulties which you may be experiencing, and receive any required support.
- To report incidents and complaints via the appropriate protocol.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required by the Coordinator/Managers.
- Submit log sheet and program notes and attendance at the end of the workshops. (in some case this may be shared task with other staff).

**Your Background (Skills and attributes)**

The Artist should possess:

- A passion and enthusiasm for facilitating arts projects for participating artists.
- Experience working collaboratively with participating artists and studio staff and an understanding and commitment to the artists taking responsibility for the artistic direction of the project.
- Demonstrated ability to program strong artistic ideas and proven ability to implement them.
- A comprehensive arts practice, preferably with arts qualification/experience
- Ability to creatively solve problems through discussion, negotiation and teamwork.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present clear, concise and timely reports.
- Minor administration tasks when required.

**Role** **Requirements**
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- A current NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check (we can support you through the process of obtaining one or both checks if you don't already have them).
- The ability and relevant driver's license to perform travel and work a variety of shifts, including weekends. Position may also require working active nights.
- Compliance with OHS&W regulations, legislation, and Policies and Procedures is required.
- Successful completion of pre-employment safety screening checks, mandatory training, and their subsequent renewals is necessary.
