About the Role:
Based at our head office and reporting to the Head of Strategy & Customer Engagement, this full-time Category Manager role is dedicated to managing the Driveline Lubricants category - focusing primarily on Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATFs) and Gear Oils across passenger and heavy-duty applications.
You will play a vital role in leading product strategy, lifecycle management, pricing, and market execution to drive growth, competitiveness, and relevance in retail, trade, commercial, and export markets.
Key Responsibilities:
As Category Manager, Driveline Lubricants, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the passenger car and heavy-duty Engine Oil product categories. This includes:
Category Strategy & Ownership: Develop and execute category strategies aligned with overall business goals and market demand.
Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of products – from concept and development through to launch, performance tracking, rationalisation, and end-of-life.
Market & Competitor Analysis: Conduct ongoing analysis of market trends, customer needs, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities and risks.
Pricing & Positioning: Set and review pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
Product Development & Innovation: Identify gaps and lead the development of new products or enhancements in collaboration with R&D and Technical Teams.
Sales & Marketing Alignment: Work closely with Sales and Marketing to create compelling go-to-market plans, campaigns, and training resources.
Forecasting & Inventory Planning: Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure accurate demand forecasting and product availability across all channels.
Regulatory & Technical Compliance: Ensure all products meet relevant regulatory standards and industry specifications.
Product Training: Train key stakeholders and the wider sales team in product technical specifications, features and benefits and marketability aspects of each product within the category.
Product Recommendations: Support the Technical team with product recommendations and product application within our digital infrastructure.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the central point of contact for your categories, engaging internal stakeholders and external partners to drive performance and resolve issues.
Requirements:
You're someone who's curious, motivated and have proven experience in category management, stakeholder engagement, project management and comprehend product lifecycle processes. As a bonus, have a proven background in lubricants and you are keen take ownership of a key product portfolio in a dynamic and supportive team.
Ideally, you will bring the ability to:
Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for your product category.
Analyse market trends and competitor activity to spot opportunities and challenges.
Help set and track long-term goals, KPIs, and performance targets.
Support the product lifecycle—from launches and improvements to phase-outs.
Identify gaps in the product range and contribute ideas for new products or enhancements.
Work with teams like product innovation, procurement, and marketing on go-to-market plans.
Collaborate with Sales to support category growth and performance goals.
Understand the basics of pricing, profitability, and how to optimise returns.
Assist in planning promotions and supporting brand-aligned product positioning.
Communicate effectively with sales, operations, logistics, and finance teams.
Help prepare reports, dashboards, and insights to guide business decisions.
Stay curious about changing customer needs, product trends, and industry developments.
