Payroll Specialist – 12 Month Contract

Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist with a strong background in aged care payroll? We are partnering with a well-established aged care organisation seeking a hands-on payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll operations for approximately 500 employees.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity based in Hawthorn, offering hybrid flexibility and the opportunity to work within a purpose-driven organisation supporting essential community services.
The Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will take full ownership of the payroll function, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely processing across weekly and fortnightly pay cycles.
You will be responsible for:
* End-to-end payroll processing for 500 individual employees
* Managing payroll through CareSuper system
* Interpretation and application of aged care Awards and EBAs
* Processing new starters, terminations, redundancies and leave reconciliations
* Superannuation, payroll tax and third-party remittances
* STP reporting and year-end processing
* Managing payroll queries from staff and managers
* Payroll reconciliations and journal preparation for Finance
* Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, ATO and aged care regulatory requirements
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
o Proven experience running end-to-end payroll autonomously
o Mandatory experience in aged care payroll
o Strong Award and EBA interpretation skills (Aged Care Award essential)
o Experience managing payroll for 400+ employees
o Strong reconciliation and reporting capability
o High attention to detail and ability to work independently
o Excellent stakeholder communication skills
Experience with CareSuper system will be highly regarded.
