Job Description
The successful candidate will lead the application of occupational health and safety regulations in the earth resources sector across Victoria, developing strategies to support and guide Work Safe's inspectorate. This role involves providing expert advice and guidance on a broad range of safety data, identifying industry trends, and managing safety programs.
The Principal Mining Engineer will work with mining operators, co-regulators, and industry representative groups to ensure legislative requirements are met, using their technical expertise to identify major mining hazards and implement controls.

Requirements
* A minimum of 10 years operational experience within the earth resources industry;
* Comprehensive understanding of mining methods applicable to Victorian mines and their unique levels of inherent risk to human health and safety;
* Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills;
* Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and proven problem-solving skills;
* Highly developed computer skills;
* Report writing skills and communication to the highest standard;
* Capable of delivering within schedules and budgets;
* Involvement in the hazard identification and risk assessment processes within the earth resources industry.

Qualifications
* Appropriate tertiary qualifications in mining engineering, civil engineering, or related earth sciences;
* Workplace Health & Safety Management Systems Leading Auditing Qualifications;
* First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (or equivalent);
* Post Graduate Risk and Critical Control Management Qualifications.
