Role Overview:Our Geelong team has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer / Design Engineer to join them and play a key role in delivering high-quality process plant layouts across food manufacturing facilities.
This role is ideal for an engineer or designer who combines practical plant design knowledge with strong AutoCAD skills, and who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and constructible solutions. You’ll support the design and delivery of new plants, upgrades, and brownfield modifications in operational food manufacturing facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop process plant layouts, including equipment arrangement, material and personnel flow, access, and services coordinationProduce and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings, including:General arrangement (GA) drawingsEquipment layoutsProcess flow and layout coordination drawingsCollaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildableApply food safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements (e.g., cleanability, zoning, access, segregation) to layoutsSupport projects from concept and FEED through to detailed design and construction supportParticipate in site visits, layout verification, and design reviews with clients and contractorsMaintain drawing standards, revisions, and document control
About YouDegree or diploma in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)Proven experience in process plant layout design, ideally within:Food and beverage manufacturingFMCG or hygienic process industriesStrong AutoCAD skills with demonstrated experience producing complex plant layoutsSolid understanding of:Process equipment arrangementMaterial and personnel flowsMaintenance access and constructabilityAbility to interpret process information (PFDs, equipment lists, specifications) and translate it into effective layoutsExperience on brownfield projects in operational plants is highly regarded
