Cyber Engagement and Strategy (CES) is a diverse group of professionals who combine their strengths, learn from each other, and work collaboratively to deliver meaningful capability outcomes.

We are seeking motivated candidates who want meaningful work and the opportunity to contribute to roles across governance, administration, project management and strategic policy within ASD's Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC). In these roles, you'll take on complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support responsibilities that directly enable ASD's cyber mission, to help protect Australia's security and strategic advantage.

In these positions, you won't just be supporting processes, you'll be shaping them. You'll apply your knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision‐making and ASD policy to deliver high‐quality operational outcomes in a mission‐driven environment.

You'll also have the opportunity to partner closely with project owners and collaborate across the organisation, giving you visibility, influence, and the chance to grow your professional network while contributing to work of national significance.

CES is looking to fill vacancies at the ASD 5, 6, and EL1 classifications in the below categories:

Project Support

Project Support Officers and Managers play a pivotal role in delivering ASD's mission by keeping complex projects moving and ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standard. These roles focus on execution and coordination, bringing together people, information and resources to support successful project outcomes.

You will manage schedules, risk, workload, monitor progress, solve delivery and challenges. Project Support prepares high‐quality briefings, submissions, reports and updates that inform senior decision‐makers. The role requires strong judgement, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work confidently within government decision‐making processes.

Administration and Secretariat

Administration Officers and Managers provide the essential operational backbone that keeps ASD functioning smoothly. These roles focus on day‐to‐day business support, ensuring accurate information flows, task coordination to assist leaders and teams to focus on mission‐critical work.

Responsibilities include managing documentation, facilitating decision‐making processes, coordinating administrative workflows and ensuring consistent operational support across the organisation. The role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail and the ability to translate technical and policy requirements into practical guidance for stakeholders.

Governance

Governance Officers and Managers strengthen ASD's integrity by ensuring activities meet legislative, policy and organisational requirements. These roles focus on assurance, oversight and risk management, providing high‐quality governance advice to support accurate, transparent and accountable decision‐making at senior levels.

Governance teams monitor and report on compliance obligations, identify emerging risks, assess policy impacts and recommend appropriate actions to maintain alignment with ASD's frameworks. Staff in these roles apply sound understanding of legislative frameworks and enterprise governance while contributing to internal activities that uphold ASD's compliance and organisational integrity.

Strategic and International Policy

Strategic and International Policy Officers and Managers shape ASD's long‐term direction by developing, implementing and reviewing strategic domestic and international policy settings. Staff in this function play a vital role in supporting Australia's national security interests by ensuring ASD's policy positions are well informed, coherent and effectively represented across government and international partners. They also contribute to broader whole‐of‐government policy development, providing insights that help guide Australia's strategic posture in an increasingly complex global environment.

ASD is seeking applicants to fill current and anticipated vacancies and to create a merit pool for future vacancies. Our Ideal Candidate

ASD 5

Officers at this level contribute to mission delivery and play an essential role across ASD's administrative, governance, and project and policy functions. Working under limited direction, they manage moderately complex tasks, support effective decision‐making and help ensure operational continuity across the organisation.

They also have:

* An ability to work confidently and collaboratively within an integrated, multidisciplinary team
* Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
* Professional and respectful stakeholder engagement.
* Proven ability to balance competing tasks and deadlines.
* Commitment to accurate, timely and efficient support that enables mission deliver.
* High attention to detail and consistent production of quality work.
* Research and analytical skills to interpret information effectively.
* Contribution to documentation reviews and quality assurance processes.
* Ability to prepare routine minutes, reports and administrative products.
* Initiative and sound problem solving skills to manage emerging priorities.

ASD 6

Officers at this level manage more complex work, contribute specialist advice and exercise greater independence. They may coordinate small teams or work programs and play a key role in driving improvements, managing risks and supporting strategic outcomes.

They also have:

* An ability to make independent, well‐reasoned decisions within defined parameters.
* Experience preparing high quality written submissions, briefs and corporate reports.
* Advanced analytical and problem solving capability, including risk assessment and recommendations.
* Strong ability to prioritise and manage resources in dynamic and fast paced environments.
* Proactive coordination that supports the efficiency and effectiveness of broader teams
* Extensive knowledge of project management practices, methodologies and organisational standards (Project and Administration).
* Strong capability to operate effectively across governance, administration, project support and policy contexts (Governance).
* Strong understanding of domestic and international policy environments (Policy).

ASD EL1

Officers and Managers at the EL1 classification provide leadership, direction and deep technical or professional expertise. Managing complex or sensitive work, teams and stakeholder engagement to achieve organisational and outcomes at a national level, they will also have:

* Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team with clarity, confidence and accountability.
* Proven capability to lead governance, project or policy work programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
* Provision of high level advice, including risk analysis and recommended courses of action.
* An ability to represent the team or function in organisational forums and contribute to whole of government outcomes.
* Skilled management of complex project schedules, risks, budgets and resources (Project and Administration).
* Senior level judgement to navigate legislative frameworks, government decision making processes and ASD policy requirements (Governance).
* Oversight of complex briefs, reports, submissions and policy documentation (Policy)
