Role Overview
As a Business Services Supervisor, you will play a key role in leading and supporting the Business Services team to deliver high-quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services to a portfolio of clients. You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed accurately, on time and in accordance with professional standards, while also coaching and developing junior staff. This role blends strong technical expertise with leadership, client engagement and operational contribution.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Technical Delivery
* Supervise and review the preparation of financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and related compliance work for a diverse client portfolio.
* Ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with accounting, taxation and professional standards.
* Support the delivery of advisory and strategic services aligned with the firm's holistic client service approach.
Team Leadership & Development
* Mentor, coach and support junior and intermediate staff, providing regular feedback and guidance.
* Assist with workflow management to ensure deadlines are met and work is appropriately allocated.
* Promote a collaborative, respectful and high-performing team culture.
Client Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact.
* Manage and respond to client queries in a timely and professional manner.
* Escalate technical or commercial matters to managers or partners as appropriate.
Operational & Compliance Support
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and internal processes.
* Assist with training and knowledge sharing across the Business Services team.
What You Bring
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a business services role within a public practice accounting firm.
* Demonstrated supervisory or senior-level experience with responsibility for reviewing work.
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting and taxation compliance.
* Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Qualifications
* Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
* CA or CPA qualification (or currently working towards completion) is highly desirable.
