The Opportunity
Hunter New England Health (HNE Health) provides a range of public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions.
Gloucester Hospital is an 80-bed campus which consists of a 20-bed acute ward, 15-bed aged care transitional ward, 25-bed nursing home and a 20-bed hostel. Shifts are 0800-0800 24 hr on call.
- The Locum Medical Officer will be responsible for managing patients in the Emergency Department and Inpatient Ward
- 24hr on call shifts. Locum will be on call for the entire period of contract and be expected to be available for all triage categories.
- Medical support and advice via existing pathways, available via telehealth and phone through the Retrieval services, Manning Base Hospital and John Hunter Hospital.
- Skilled nursing staff run the emergency Department and inpatient ward. All ED Nursing staff are credentialed in Advanced Life Support.
- Average 5 X ED Presentations per 24 Hours during the week
- Average 10 X ED Presentations per 24 Hours during over weekends (average)

Essential Criteria
To be eligible for this locum, you must have
- Australian working rights
- Full AHPRA registration
- PGY5+ with extensive ED experience
