) to source a Visitor Centre Coordinator, an exciting new position to join their team at the Lake Awoonga Visitor Centre.
Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority constituted under the Water Act 2000 whose purpose is to supply bulk water to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants. It takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs. About the Role
As the Visitor Centre Coordinator, you will be the first point of call for all visitors to the Lake Awoonga Visitor Centre and oversee all aspects of the centres daily operations. This includes managing merchandise sales, coordinating tours and events, supervising Volunteers and implementing marketing strategies to enhance visitor engagement and experiences.
You'll ensure the centre runs smoothly, provide administrative support to GAWB's Natural Resources and Recreation team and most importantly, deliver an unforgettable experience for every guest who walks through the doors
Your Key Accountabilities Include:
* Oversee visitor centre operations including retail sales, inventory and bookings
* Process tour bookings, handle visitor enquiries and maintain the booking and reservation system
* Coordinate, supervise and support volunteers to deliver engaging visitor experiences and provide training as required
* Plan, coordinate and host tours, events and educational experiences that align with community and organisational objectives
* Deliver customer service to all visitors and tour groups
* Assist in the development of tourism experiences and deliver exceptional service standards to elevate the visitor experience
* Collaborate with GAWB's Communications and Community Relations team to develop and deliver marketing campaigns, social media content and promotional initiatives
* Implement marketing strategies and assist with the development of educational materials to increase visitor numbers
* Work with external service providers including graphic designers, printers, photographers, consultants, etc to deliver internal and external communication and marketing materials
* Build positive stakeholder relationships and represent GAWB at community events
* Provide administrative and executive support including reporting, scheduling and expenditure and budget monitoring
Essential Experience / Capabilities:
* Minimum 5 years experience working within event, visitor centre, recreation facility or venue management roles
* Demonstrated success in increasing visitor engagement as well as delivering programs, tours or community events
* Experience supervising and training volunteers
* Marketing and digital communication skills around social media management, creating promotional campaigns, website content updates as well as event promotion
* Strong administrative skills with experience in budgeting, reporting and scheduling
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
* Advanced skills within the Microsoft Office Suite and booking systems
* Current C Class Driver's Licence
* Hold or ability to obtain Blue Card, Criminal History Check and Advanced First Aid Training
Desirable:
* Certificate or Diploma in Business, Events, Education or related field
* Knowledge of aquaculture, environmental management or conservation education
* Experience developing educational or community engagement programs
