Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian mining and resources business in their search for a new Commercial Lawyer. They are looking to hire someone at the 8-10 PQE level, to be based in their Brisbane office.
We're seeking a proactive and motivated commercial/projects lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal function. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of commercial, regulatory, projects and dispute-related matters in a business focused on safe, sustainable operations in the resources and energy sector. About the Role
* Provide strategic, independent legal advice to senior stakeholders to enable the business to achieve its commercial objectives while effectively managing legal and regulatory risk.
* Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including procurement, supply and services agreements, and other key operational contracts.
* Advise on regulatory and compliance matters including workplace health and safety (including regulatory investigations and prosecutions), environmental and public liability issues, insurance, privacy, IP, risk and general corporate issues.
* Manage and resolve commercial disputes and claims.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators and owners' representatives, and contribute to key projects and broader business initiatives.
What type of person will be successful?
* Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
* Practising as a commercial/projects lawyer for 8-10 years in private practice and/or in-house, ideally with exposure to the resources and energy sector.
* Strong analytical and strategic advisory skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and provide clear, pragmatic, business-focused advice.
* Proven experience across commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, WHS, disputes and general corporate matters, with well-developed project and matter management skills.
* Collaborative, adaptable and self-motivated, with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills and the confidence to influence at senior levels.
* Thrives in dynamic and evolving environments, taking ownership and demonstrating sound judgment, integrity and a strong focus on safety and sustainability.
