The Tech Council of Australia (TCA) is the peak industry body for the Australian tech sector. Our 170+ members span startups, scaleups, Australian global companies and multinationals, making tech Australia's third-largest industry. We work closely with government, business and the wider community to support the ongoing creation, development and adoption of technology across every sector of the economy.
You'll join a high-calibre team of industry leaders, policy experts and community builders who are passionate about strengthening Australia's tech ecosystem and shaping the policies that underpin it, during an exciting time of growth for the TCA.
Mission of the Role
Support the TCA's policy and advocacy work by driving high-quality analysis, policy positions and strategy, and stakeholder engagement that help advance the growth of Australia's tech industry for the benefit of Australians.
This role will suit someone with strong written and analytical skills, a strength in building relationships and communication, a passion for public policy and governance, and an interest in how technology is shaping Australia's economy, workforce and society.
Key Outcomes You'll Deliver
Conduct research, draft briefs and reports, and consult with members and stakeholders on TCA's policy positions.
Prepare submissions on key legislative and regulatory issues affecting the tech sector.
Conduct meetings, and represent the TCA in public and private fora.
Prepare colleagues for meetings with member companies, government agencies and other stakeholders.
Provide support to TCA's policy committees.
Contribute policy insights and thought leadership to board papers, reports and stakeholder briefings.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualifications in a relevant field such as law, economics, social sciences or public policy.
5+ years' experience in public policy, law, consulting, or within government or advocacy organisations.
Experience conducting policy research, analysis or advocacy.
An interest or background in technology policy areas such as digital regulation, skills, or investment.
Prior experience working in economics, within a central economic agency or economic policy think-tank is desirable.
Strong capability in communication and presentation development, with the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling narratives and visual presentations.
Excellent writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
