The key duties of the position include Employment Opportunity The APS5 Learning Design Officer is a key member of the Workforce Strategy & Capability Section, and will work under the guidance of the Capability Development Lead to design, develop and deliver high-quality learning experiences across the department. This role contributes to the end-to-end development of blended and digital learning solutions from scoping and analysis through to design, development, evaluation and continuous improvement. The role works closely with subject matter experts, business areas, and external vendors to ensure learning products are accurate, engaging, accessible, and aligned with the department's Learning & Development and Workforce Strategies. With a strong focus on instructional design, digital learning development and learning systems, this position plays an integral role in ensuring our people have access to timely, relevant and high-quality capability development. Key functions of the role include: Designing and developing digital and blended learning solutions, including eLearning, microlearning and other digital resources that meet department and APS requirements. Supporting major learning projects and departmental initiatives, including coordination, development and integration of eLearning products within the Learning Management System and other digital systems. Managing and maintaining digital learning assets and vendor relationships, ensuring products remain current, accurate and fit-for-purpose. Supporting delivery of ongoing programs and capability activities, contributing to a culturally safe, inclusive and engaged departmental workforce. How you can help make a difference The successful applicant will bring instructional design capability and a practical understanding of contemporary learning methodologies, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging and accessible learning experiences. You will demonstrate experience in: Developing digital learning solutions, including eLearning modules, multimedia assets and blended learning resources, using industry-standard authoring tools and following best-practice learning design principles. Working with learning management systems or other digital learning platforms, including uploading, testing and maintaining learning products. Managing competing priorities, coordinating project activities and working collaboratively with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Supporting vendor or contractor relationships and contributing to procurement activities. The role requires strong communication skills, a user-centred approach and an ability to solve problems creatively.
