Employment type: 2 full-time, fixed-term contracts

Duration: 12 months

Remuneration: Broadband 5/6, level 5 from $88,717/level 6 from $103,866 plus 17% super

Location: UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus

Why Your Role Matters:The Intelligent Systems for State and Societal Resilience Research Hub (ISSSRH) is a team of digital technical experts, thematic (security-development) experts, and associated academics addressing the challenges of vulnerable states. The team works with local partners in high priority sectors (mostly local networks – women's networks, peak bodies of environmental civil society organisations as examples) within such societies – codesigning, building, and deploying technical platforms and solutions to increase their agency through greater access to resources, information, and informed decision-making.

Accountabilities:

At Level 5

* Provide support to the ISSSRH and other nominated projects upon the request of the supervisor
* Help develop visualizations for complex data, including the capability to visualize large datasets.
* Help develop data sets for testing and demonstration purposes.
* Verify and deploy programs and systems and assist with maintaining the team's development environment.
* Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software

At Level 6

In addition to level 5 above

* Provide high level support to the ISSSRH and other nominated projects upon the request of the supervisor

* Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and contribute to the evolution of the existing code-base in consultation with the other members of the systems modelling team.

* Perform duties at a skill level that requires a degree, normally with subsequent relevant experience.

* Solve diverse and unusual problems by analysing information where considerable interpretation of existing regulations, policies or procedures is required.

Who You Are (skills and experience):

At Level 5

* Excellent time-management, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
* Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels
* Ability to make sound judgements and work part of a team
* Knowledge of coding languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python)
* Knowledge of databases and scripting
* Ability to learn new languages and technologies

At Level 6

In addition to level 5 above:

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Practical experience of coding languages (e.g. C++, Java, Python)
* Practical experience knowledge of databases and scripting

* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

* Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
