Position Information
Murrumburrah High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing rural high school located in the Southwest Slopes. Situated within 50 kilometres of several neighbouring towns and approximately 125 kilometres from Canberra, the school's current enrolment is 150 students, with Aboriginal students comprising 28% of the student body.
Murrumburrah High School enjoys strong, longstanding relationships with the local community, many of whose families have deep generational ties to the area and the school itself. These enduring connections support seamless student transitions to further education pathways, including university, TAFE, and apprenticeships, while also addressing the unique needs of the local community.
Murrumburrah High School is committed to personalised, differentiated learning that nurtures every student's potential as students are supported to develop their interests and achievements across academic pursuits, leadership, creative and performing arts, and a wide range of sporting and extra‑curricular activities.
The school takes great pride in the quality facilities, which include well‑maintained buildings, specialised learning spaces, and an extensive School Agriculture Farm. This farm provides students with hands‑on learning opportunities in horticulture and animal management, equipping them with practical skills relevant to our rural environment.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated expertise in the Science Curriculum and the capacity to lead a diverse team through curriculum reform, ensuring innovation, effective resource management and the implementation of evidence‑based teaching, learning and assessment practices.
* Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity and foster a culture of high expectations, while being a collaborative and visible leader who works effectively with the executive to implement whole school priorities.
* Demonstrated capacity to collaboratively design, deliver, monitor and evaluating differentiated, high‑impact teaching and learning strategies to support and challenge diverse and complex learners, including HPGE students and students with additional learning needs.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
