Substation Physical EngineerJob SummaryPOWER Engineers is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to join the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Augusta office, located in Hallowell, Maine. This role offers flexibility for a hybrid work environment; candidates must reside within commuting distance of the office.Roles and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate within a team to complete complex electrical utility substation designs, ensuring compliance with client standards.Perform detailed physical design of medium to extra-high voltage substations, including but not limited to:One-line diagramsPhysical layoutsEquipment selectionGeneral arrangement plans, sections, and elevationsControl building designCable and conduit plansGround grid, lightning protection, yard lighting designsMaterial lists, system calculations, and sizingPreparation of engineering documentation such as RFIs, scope documents, specifications, and construction detailsCoordinate with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packages.Coordinate designs with other disciplines including Protection & Control, Structural, and Civil.Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs.Assist in engineering proposal development, project scheduling, and budget management.Required Education/ExperienceAbility to function effectively as a Substation Physical Engineer in Augusta, Maine.BSEE or BSEET from an accredited university, preferably with a power option.Understanding of substation equipment and functions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.Strong written and oral communication skills in English.Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.Desired Education/ExperienceAt least three years of experience in electric utility substation design.Ability to produce drawings from sketches, notes, vendor drawings, etc.Engineer Intern (EI) certification or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, is a global consulting firm in environmental and engineering sectors, renowned for energy projects.
