**About the role**
In this role, you will lead and support a team to facilitate implementation of strategic plans to guide the growth and change of our growing city. The role provides technical direction, people leadership, management, and delivery of high-quality services to the community, and strategic advice and support in a timely and effective manner.
This role will oversee the delivery of new communities in growth areas and urban renewal areas the associated infrastructure funding, planning and development sequencing, land supply and housing data collation, the provision of social housing, strategic land acquisitions and advocacy for civil and social infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a team to deliver projects that ensure the City's new communities are delivered in an orderly and timely manner in accordance with strategic plans, infrastructure funding plans and the City's policies and procedures.
- Provide expert advice on and oversee the implementation of strategic plans, precinct structure plans, development contribution plans, guidelines, policies, redevelopment of council land and planning scheme amendments to enable development in greenfield and urban renewal areas.
- Oversee the preparation of infrastructure funding strategy and mechanisms to support the delivery of land use planning outcomes.
- As a member of the Planning & Growth leadership group, create and maintain a culture within the team that is consistent with the organisation's values, that ensures staff to feel valued, productive, engaged and supported.
- Manage the Unit's business planning requirements including development and delivery of budget bids, managing project budgets and business and annual work plans.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in urban planning, property development, infrastructure planning and funding or related field.
- Extensive experience delivering projects or programs which enable the delivery of new communities in both greenfield and urban renewal contexts.
- Proven ability to drive and negotiate innovative outcomes to facilitate the delivery of planning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including developers, councillors and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience and an excellent reputation in the leadership and management of people within a comparable organisation.
- Demonstrated project management experience to deliver complex projects from consultation, concept and strategy development to implementation.
