It supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and funds substantial research.
There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

This role focuses on delivering a federally funded project under the Flexible Approach to Training in Rural Settings (FATES 1) - 'Rural Accreditation – addressing barriers to rural specialist training'.

1. Developing a strategic approach to address rural specialist training barriers.
2. Implementing effective solutions to improve rural surgeon recruitment and retention.
