Bundaberg Sugar Group Ltd is a grower, miller, refiner, and marketer of sugar and related products in Australia. The company is one of Australia's largest cane growers and owns and operates sugar mills in Queensland. Bundaberg Sugar participates in all levels of the raw sugar industry in the districts in which it operates. The company's activities span the full sugar processing cycle including cane growing, milling, refining, packaging and distributing sugar products to retail, industrial and export customers.

The company's other value adding operations include Bundaberg Walkers, one of Australia's longest established, heavy engineering and foundry enterprises; and Bundaberg Molasses which supplies molasses and related products to industrial and rural markets.

Bundaberg Walkers is seeking highly skilled and experienced Materials Technician, who will be responsible for the company's metallurgical operations, to join their team of professionals on a full time and permanent basis.

The role includes but is not limited to the following activities:

- Manage the Spectrometer Room in the Foundry to ensure customer requirements are met and that testing is carried out in an efficient and controlled manner.
- Set up, operate and maintain the spectrometer machine.
- Obtain, measure and prepare samples for testing.
- Put samples through test procedures and analyse, record and report the results.
- Investigate material failures and recommend corrective and preventive action.
- Develop and improve processes within the spectro room as needed.
- Ensure records needed to verify conformity of product are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, environment and quality policies and procedures.
- Oversee melt deck operations including the maintenance of equipment including the reordering of goods and services.
- Report all maintenance requirements using the appropriate reporting systems.

To be considered for this role, you must be:

- Trade qualified in Metallurgy Engineering or related qualification
- 5+ years' experience in the manufacturing industry
- 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs as required
- Well-developed analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Physically fit and able to work in various conditions
- Able to work well in a team environment.
- Able to work well with mínimal supervision.
- Able to adhere and contribute to strict safety requirements

**Salary**: Between $70,000 and $75,000 per annum + Super

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
