* Hawthorn East-based role with hybrid working options
* Technical leadership at the intersection of AI, Product, and Data
* Drive the \"AI-first\" operating model across the enterprise
We are New Aim
New Aim is a powerhouse in the Australian e-commerce ecosystem. We are evolving into a technology-led organization, building a sophisticated AI-first operating model to redefine operational efficiency at scale. We are looking for a Staff Product Engineer—a senior technical leader and Tech Owner who can drive initiatives end-to-end, ensuring they land with measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Do
As a Staff Product Engineer, you are a hands‐on individual contributor responsible for defining technical direction across multiple products. You will take ownership of our hardest technical problems, prototype new capabilities, and act as an initiative driver—owning prioritization and sequencing even when product support is limited.
* AI Business Unit Enablement: Drive an AI‐first mindset by identifying high‐ROI workflows and converting them into production‐ready capabilities. You will define human‐in‐the‐loop workflows and track success metrics like time saved and margin impact.
* AI Agent Workbench & Frameworks: Design and evolve shared agent modules and SDKs. You will establish standard patterns for model integration (Gemini, OpenAI), context retrieval (RAG), and evaluation frameworks (golden sets, A/B testing).
* Cross‐Initiative Leadership: Bridge the gap between discovery and execution. You will partner with Tech Leads and PMs early to shape feasibility and validate technical approaches before large‐scale development begins.
* Data Collaboration & Architecture: Act as the technical liaison to the Data Platform. You'll identify data gaps, design schemas for maximum reuse, and ensure our features collect the data necessary for advanced analytics.
* Organizational Enablement: Lead through influence. You will support Tech Leads in planning and scoping while raising the engineering bar through design reviews, shared foundations, and high‐impact code.
What You'll Bring
* Strategic Engineering: Proven success delivering complex initiatives across multiple teams with deep expertise in system architecture, API design, and distributed systems.
* AI Specialization: Hands‐on experience building AI‐enabled solutions, including agent workflows, tool calling, and structured outputs.
* Operational Thinking: A strong capability in engineering for observability, reliability, and maintainability in cloud‐native environments (Azure/GCP).
* Data‐Driven Mindset: Experience in schema design and pipeline awareness, ensuring engineering outputs align with data reporting requirements.
* Leadership through Influence: A track record of supporting Tech Leads and mentoring engineers on system thinking and pragmatic decision‐making.
What You'll Experience
* Direct Business Impact: Your work won't just live in a silo; you will build systems that directly improve business operations through automation and measurable loops.
* High‐Autonomy Environment: As a \"Tech Owner,\" you have the mandate to drive technical direction and lead digitalization projects that improve efficiency and compliance.
* Cutting‐Edge Stack: Work at the forefront of AI implementation, building the internal frameworks (Agent Workbench) that the rest of the engineering org will adopt.
* Pragmatic Innovation: Experience a culture that balances the \"blue sky\" potential of AI with the rigor of scalable, stable, and documented interfaces.
* Collaborative Growth: Join a team where you are empowered to lead cross‐team technical discussions and shape the long‐term evolution of our engineering standards.
The Perks
* Free on‐site parking
* Unlimited freshly brewed coffee and fruit
* Generous employee discounts on over 7,000 products
* Company funded events, including end‐of‐quarter celebrations, the Biggest Morning Tea, Christmas event celebrations, etc.
* Internally funded team engagement activities such as team lunch, birthday celebrations, etc.
