Harry's Cafe de Wheels, Sydney's iconic takeaway brand, is seeking a reliable, organised and proactive Marketing & Operations Assistant to join our team at our Ultimo Headquarters, conveniently located near Broadway Shopping Centre and the New Sydney Fish Market.
We are expanding our team and are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support our marketing and operational activities, with a strong focus on coordination, execution and follow-through. The role works closely with the owner and management team to help keep marketing initiatives organised and ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Over time, there may be scope for the role to evolve for the right person who demonstrates reliability, ownership and strong follow-through.
About Us
Harry's Café de Wheels has proudly served customers for over 80 years, with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sir Elton John and Prince Harry among the many who have enjoyed our iconic Tiger Pie. It all began with Harry 'Tiger' Edwards, whose frustration at not being able to find a good late-night snack led him to open a caravan café near the front gates of the Woolloomooloo Naval Dockyard in Sydney.
He named it Harry's Cafe de Wheels – a bold gesture to the local council, whose regulations required him to move the caravan at least 12 inches each day. His courage, along with his reputation as a boxer, earned him the nickname 'Tiger' – a name that lives on today through our famous pie. Harry's continues to serve customers from its original Woolloomooloo location, alongside a growing number of outlets across Australia and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of marketing campaigns and promotions
* Design and update marketing materials, promotional assets and in‐store collateral using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
* Create, film and edit short‐form content for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts
* Schedule and manage social media content for approval and publication
* Maintain and update operational systems including Lightspeed, menu boards, databases and internal documentation
* Support franchise, wholesale and sales activities by maintaining CRM records and assisting with customer enquiries and follow‐up
* Prepare basic reports, performance summaries and business insights using available data and AI tools
* Assist with administrative tasks, document preparation and general office coordination
* Act as a first point of contact for phone and email enquiries
* Provide general support across marketing, operations and administration as required
To Be Successful In This Role
* Previous experience in a marketing, content creation, administration or operations role
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
* Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow‐through
* Strong proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and similar productivity platforms, with the ability to use them to improve efficiency, reporting, content creation and problem‐solving
* Ability to generate basic reports and insights using spreadsheets, business systems and AI tools
* Experience creating, filming and editing short‐form video content for social media
* Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator
* Comfortable managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‐paced environment
* Self‐motivated, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a small team
* A practical, proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
Beneficial Experience
* Experience with Lightspeed POS, Xero, Mailchimp, Buffer, Meta Ads Manager, Uber Eats or DoorDash Merchant Portal
* Hospitality, retail or franchise experience
* Current driver's licence
