National Optimisation Manager | Leading National Network | Melbourne or Sydney
The Organisation
Our client is one of Australia's most recognised organisations, operating a national supply chain and logistics network at significant scale. With a transport operation spanning every state and territory, this business moves product from distribution centres to hundreds of locations across the country every day. This is a business that has looked honestly at its network, knows where the opportunities are, and has the mandate and the resources to act on them.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, this is a national leadership role with end-to-end accountability for the transport optimisation function. You will lead a team of six direct reports across national and state-based positions, and you will be the person responsible for driving a live productivity programme.
This is not a strategy development role with a long runway. The expectation is that the right person gets across the current state quickly and starts making a difference.
* Driving the systematic identification and removal of waste across the national transport network using Lean and Six Sigma methodology
* Owning the reporting and analytics ecosystem, moving beyond descriptive data toward predictive insights that drive operational decisions
* Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for all transport systems interactions, bridging operational teams and technology stakeholders
* Leading the maturity and utilisation of the Transport Management System nationally
* Network financial modelling, including rigorous costing of alternative network configurations and localised financial impact analysis
* Building a high-performance national optimisation team across multiple states
The Person
You will bring a combination of transport operations credibility, continuous improvement depth, and the commercial acumen to manage a function of this scale. Specifically you will have:
* Proven experience in a complex, large-scale transport or logistics operation at national level
* Genuine Lean or Six Sigma credentials with a track record of quantified waste removal
* Strong data and analytics capability - you know what good looks like and can hold others accountable for it
* Experience with Tier-1 Transport Management Systems, ideally BlueYonder
* The ability to influence across operations, IT, finance, and executive stakeholders without always having direct authority
* Resilience and drive to operate under cost pressure inside a large, complex corporate environment
The Opportunity
Melbourne or Sydney based. Hybrid working. Competitive base salary plus superannuation plus short-term incentive.
