About the team

ARENA's Government Relations (GovRel) team sits in the Agency's Corporate Operations, Relations and Enablement (CORE) Group. ARENA GovRel maintains and builds the Agency's ongoing relationships with all relevant ministers, their offices and portfolio departments, as well as other federal, state and territory parliamentarians and departments, and other relevant agencies and authorities. ARENA's growing international engagement is also managed by the GovRel team.

About the position

The Business Support Officer (BSO) provides centralised, high-quality administrative, office management and coordination support across ARENA's Government and International Relations, Marketing and Communications, Legal and Governance functions, and the Melbourne Office.

The position also provides dedicated administrative and logistical support to the ARENA Board and Company Secretariat, including Board and Committee travel, meetings and remuneration processes, supporting the effective discharge of ARENA's statutory and governance responsibilities.

The BSO is an opportunity to provide high-quality support service at the intersection of ARENA's governance and public affairs branches, as well as a useful development opportunity for anyone interested in Board and stakeholder management.

Key opportunities

* Work at the centre of ARENA's operations, providing enabling support across Government and International Relations, Marketing and Communication, Legal and Governance, the Melbourne office and the Company Secretariat.
* Build deep exposure to Board and executive‐level governance, stakeholder engagement and whole‐of‐organisation coordination within a high‐profile Commonwealth agency.
* Contribute to ARENA's vital role in accelerating progress towards a cleaner, more sustainable future and shape Australia's transition to renewable energy.
* Travel to accompany the 10 ARENA Board meetings per year (typically held in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne with one annual meeting held in different capital city).

What we are looking for

Knowledge and experience

* Demonstrated experience in providing high‐quality administrative, business support or office management services in a complex organisation or regulated environment.
* Experience supporting senior executives, Boards or governance functions, including coordination of meetings, travel, correspondence and record‐keeping.
* Experience coordinating meetings, events and stakeholder engagements, including logistics, venues, catering, briefings and minute taking.
* Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to manage office operations, including facilities, security, access, equipment, supplies and visitor coordination.

Skills and capabilities

* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and handle confidential information with discretion.
* Well‐developed communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive, service‐oriented approach.
* High attention to detail and strong follow through across administrative and logistical activities.
* A client‐focused approach, with the ability to anticipate needs and respond to issues in a practical and timely way.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications or training in administration, business management or a related field (desirable), or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Employment framework and classification

ARENA employees are engaged under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Act 2011. They are not the same as Australian Public Service (APS) employees, who are employed under the Public Service Act 1999. ARENA's employment conditions and classifications may differ from those of APS departments and agencies.

Positions are classified based on the nature and scope of the duties required to be performed. Job level and remuneration are determined with regard to:

* the complexity of the role
* the level of responsibility
* the skills and capabilities required.
