Barwon Community Legal Service (BCLS) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation providing free legal advice, casework, community education, and advocacy across the Barwon region since 1986. We are committed to social justice and improving access to legal services for our community.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our integrated legal team. This role primarily supports our Family Law and Family Violence practice, while contributing across other areas. You will provide high-quality paralegal support to our lawyers, helping deliver holistic legal services to clients and the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft letters, court documents, and other legal materials for lawyer review.
* Manage client files and maintain accurate records.
* Liaise with clients and third parties to clarify instructions and exchange information.
* Conduct legal research and prepare file notes.
* Assist with maintaining practice manuals and referral directories.
* Support community legal education and law reform activities.
What We're Looking For
* 2–3 years' experience as a paralegal in Family Law, with knowledge of relevant legislation and court processes.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in client management systems (Actionstep preferred) and Microsoft Office.
* Commitment to social justice and working with clients in a sensitive, empathetic manner.
