Family Support Specialist
Working in collaboration with families and children, the Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner plays a pivotal role in preventing children from being removed from their homes or placed in out-of-home care. The Victorian program focuses on delivering quick, intensive, and ongoing support to families facing challenges such as mental health issues, substance use, or family violence.
The primary objective of this initiative is to empower families to develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to care for their children and thrive as a cohesive unit. By creating personalized plans and respecting cultural needs, practitioners strive to build on each family's strengths and provide them with the tools they need to overcome adversity.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, enabling them to establish strong relationships and partnerships that further agency objectives and improve client outcomes. A comprehensive understanding of Child and Family Services, the Child Protection system, relevant legislation, and court orders is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement a wraparound, evidence-informed case management approach.
* Maintain a thorough understanding of Child and Family Services, the Child Protection system, relevant legislation, and court orders.
* Deliver evidence-informed risk and needs assessments with families and manage risk effectively.
* Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships to further agency objectives and enhance client outcomes.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, community services work, or an equivalent field.
* A minimum of two years' experience in case management.
* Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
