This is a full-time position based in Sydney. Full relocation is required for interstate candidates. Australian Permanent Residency or Citizenship is required.
Position
As a Systems Engineer you will play a key role in developing and delivering complex, integrated systems and effector technologies. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you'll translate stakeholder needs into clear system requirements, guide system design decisions, and ensure solutions are effectively integrated, tested, and delivered.
You will contribute across the full product lifecycle, from early concept and requirements definition through to integration, validation, and continuous improvement, helping align technical execution with business and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate stakeholder and operational needs into clear, system-level requirements for complex and effector solutions
* Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, AI, RF) to deliver integrated system architectures
* Maintain and evolve system documentation including requirements, interfaces, and integration approaches
* Drive and support system integration and validation activities to ensure end-to-end performance
* Champion systems engineering best practices and contribute to process improvements across development programs
* Act as a technical bridge between engineering teams, product leadership, and external or internal stakeholders
* Identify technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs, managing them throughout the product lifecycle
* Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis, taking ownership of issues through resolution
* Support project delivery by aligning technical execution with schedules, milestones, and performance measures
* Advocate for customer and operational needs within engineering teams
* Communicate system status, risks, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders
Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
* Experience contributing to the design and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary systems
* Strong grasp of systems engineering frameworks, tools, and full lifecycle development processes
* Demonstrated capability in requirements definition, management, and traceability across hardware and software domains
* Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within diverse engineering teams
* Hands-on exposure to system integration, testing, and verification activities
* Familiarity with requirements or project tracking platforms such as Jira or similar tools
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor technical information to varied audiences
* Thrives in fast-paced environments with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
