Are you ready to use your exceptional relationship management skills to help source nutritious food for Victorians in need?
Within this exciting and purposeful role, you will take charge of securing healthy food that nourishes communities across Victoria. Within this impactful role you will lead a dedicated team to develop sourcing strategies, build and grow partnerships with suppliers, and help power innovative programs like GROW - intercepting surplus produce at the farm gate to reduce food waste and support food-insecure Victorians.
With around 50% of your time spent on the road across Victoria, you will be out meeting partners, exploring opportunities, and seeing the impact of your work firsthand.
If you're passionate about reducing food waste, supporting communities, and working with purpose – we'd love to hear from you
Why Foodbank:
Whether it's everyday emergencies or in times of crisis, Foodbank Victoria has been providing vital food relief to vulnerable Victorians for 95 years. We deliver food to people who need it in three different ways: in partnership with our charity partners, through schools and via our regional Community Food Centres.
Across our network of 500 charity partners and 1,015 schools throughout Victoria, we have distributed over 25 million meals in the last 12 months and are currently feeding 69,000 Victorians a day.
While supporting our charity and school partners is at the core of what we do, as the state's dedicated emergency food relief organisation, we're also here to assist Victorians through natural disasters, pandemics and the 'invisible disaster' caused by the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Why we're right for you
Our people come for a career and stay for the mission
You will join an organisation full of passionate and creative people who champion and invest in the vision of helping to fight for a food secure future for all Australians.
We strive for a diverse and inclusive workforce, fostering a culturally safe and supportive environment where everyone can bring their whole self to work.
Our locations span across metro and regional Victoria but the warmth of our culture is unified across all sites.
What you'll be doing:
* Inform and deliver the Food Donor Strategic Plan for respective target categories.
* Source sufficient food and grocery items to meet charity partners and program needs, with a focus on fresh produce
* Establish, lead and deliver the GROW Program to research waste and surplus at farmgate and redirect this produce to FBV and food insecure people across VIC
* Establish and maintain database of information on growers, regions, produce and seasonality to inform strategy for growth of the GROW Program
* Maintain existing donor and grower partnerships, whilst identifying and onboarding new food donors and growers within targeted categories.
* Foster strong relationships through regular site visits to farms, packing sheds, distribution centres, markets, manufacturers and factories to build strong relationships and expand sustainable sourcing opportunities.
* Manage and grow fresh donations via FMCG manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, markets, and farmgate.
* Actively promote FBV and develop connections with key Food Industry Associations to broaden support and awareness of FBV's mission.
* Ensure food donor targets are met, with a focus on staples, healthy foods, and fresh produce.
* Successfully lead a dedicated team to ensure the successful delivery of FBV's GROW Program in line with contractual obligations and sourcing targets.
Why you're right for us:
* You want to be a part of a brand that's been around for over 90 years and genuinely share our passion for our vision of healthy food for all.
* You're able to live and breathe our values of empowerment, accountability, integrity, respect, diversity, and equality.
* Minimum 5 years' professional experience with a proven track record in business development.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent work experience
* You come ready with a strong agriculture background and experience working with farmers and growers
* Experience in repurposing waste or surplus produce at farmgate level
* Good knowledge of seasonality and growing regions for fruit and vegetables in VIC
* Proven ability to lead, develop, and collaborate with a high-performing team.
* Self-starter with the initiative to develop and implement statewide fresh produce sourcing programs as part of a collaborative team.
We can offer you:
* Access to salary packaging benefits to increase your take home pay
* Team member engagement rating of above 83%.
* An organisation focused on employee wellbeing
* Supportive team environment that embraces change and innovation
