About the Role
Life Unlimited Support Services (LUSS) is a leading provider of human services in the local Medowie & Port Stephens communities. LUSS mission is to empower individuals and families to live their best lives. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, collaborative, and values-driven in everything we do.
We're looking for an experienced and approachable HR professional to join our team at Life Unlimited Support Services in a part-time capacity (approximately 20 hours per week), reporting directly to the CEO.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, consistent, and close to the team — providing steady, practical HR support across the organisation. You'll work closely with managers and staff, becoming a trusted point of contact for day-to-day people matters and helping create a positive, well-supported workplace.
Based locally in Ferodale (Port Stephens), this role suits someone who is comfortable working in a small, tight knit team, enjoys working as the sole HR practitioner, values connection, flexibility, and being part of a local community-focused organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide day-to-day HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance support, and offboarding
* Be a go-to person for managers, offering practical advice on employee relations, workplace issues, and people management
* Support managers with performance conversations, conflict resolution, and team challenges
* Coordinate and support training and development activities to build capability across the workforce
* Maintain and improve HR processes, systems, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance
* Work alongside the leadership team to support a stable, positive, and well-functioning workplace
What We're Looking For
* Experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within human services, disability, or not-for-profit environments
* Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and practical HR application
* A hands-on, pragmatic approach — someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting, supportive relationships at all levels
* Comfortable working independently in a part-time role, while staying connected to the team
* Someone who values consistency, reliability, and being present for their team
Why This Role
This is a practical, people-focused position where your impact comes from:
* Being available and approachable
* Providing steady, reliable support
* Helping managers feel confident in their day-to-day people decisions
If you're looking for a role where you can stay close to the work, contribute meaningfully, and be part of a local team, this could be a great fit.
What We Offer
* Flexible, part-time working arrangements (approx. 20 hours per week)
* A supportive, values-driven team environment
* The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a local community organisation
* Ongoing learning and development opportunities
