We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team as a Consultant Radiographer in neuro-oncology, specialising in brain metastases and skull base tumours. This is an exciting opportunity to practice at an expert level, providing specialist care for patients undergoing radiotherapy for neuro-oncology cancers.
The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner providing a comprehensive service for Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS). The role includes accepting referrals from the MDT, undertaking clinical assessment and examination, outlining and prescribing SRS radiotherapy, and delivering a follow-up service.
You will act as the Lead Radiographer for SRS, ensuring national specialist service quality metrics are achieved and maintained. Consultant Radiographer roles are well established at Clatterbridge and are valued members of the multidisciplinary medical team.
The successful candidate will commence at Band 8A while undertaking training through a structured development plan. Following successful completion of competencies, the post will progress to Band 8B (typically within 12 months depending on experience).
Main duties of the job
Provide expert-level care for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment for neuro-oncology, brain metastases and skull base cancers.
Deliver a comprehensive consultant radiographer service to support and enhance the neuro-oncology radiotherapy pathway.
Act as a key member of the neuro-oncology Site Reference Group (SRG) Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
Lead the development of clinical standards, protocols, and guidelines related to neuro-oncology radiotherapy practice.
Prescribe within agreed protocols and review radiotherapy treatment plans, including treatment plan approval.
Lead and coordinate the Neuro-Oncology radiotherapy service to optimise the use of existing resources and facilities.
Act as the Lead Radiographer for the SRS service and ensure national specialist service quality metrics are achieved and maintained.
Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
Assess, follow up, and prescribe treatments and medication within approved protocols for neuro-oncology, brain metastases and skull base radiotherapy patients.
Lead the education and training of healthcare professionals involved in the radiotherapy management of neuro-oncology cancers.
Contribute to audit, research, and service evaluation within neuro-oncology and RT practice

Person Specification Qualifications
* Professional qualification as a Therapeutic Radiographer (DCR (T) or BSc)
* Current HCPC registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer
* Qualification to MSc level in related subject
* Evidence of current and relevant CPD
* Working towards doctoral level education
