The Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), is currently expanding its workforce, and has several vacancies. The DPP offers a unique opportunity to advance your career with challenging and rewarding hands-on experience.

On behalf of the Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Red Appointments are currently seeking to recruit a number of Legal Professionals in Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine.

The DPP in the Northern Territory of Australia plays a central role in the criminal justice system, with responsibilities defined by the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1990. The DPP is responsible for instituting, preparing, and conducting criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Crown before the various courts throughout the Northern Territory.

Current vacancies include:

Crown Practice Managers (SP2).

Crown Prosecutors (P3 & SP1)

Summary Prosecutors (P2 & P3 & SP1).

Salary ranges:

SP2: $148,302 - $161,638

SP1: $128,551 - $143,611

P3: $110,873 - $124,173

P2: $90,204 - $107,554

There are multiple vacancies available across the positions, predominately in Darwin, and some in Alice Springs and Katherine. Whilst the positions vary and require different levels of experience and expertise, criteria common to all roles include:

* Admitted or eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court or of a Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
* A high level of advocacy, communication (written and oral) and negotiation skills.
* Knowledge of legislation, and the procedures of the courts of the Northern Territory or demonstrated ability in another jurisdiction and ability to quickly attain relevant local knowledge.
* High level oral and written communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to effectively engage, negotiate and collaborate with other agencies, defence agencies, Courts, local communities, other external stakeholders and the general public.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage one's own legal practice independently in accordance with internal practices and procedures, working with competing demands under pressure.
* An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
