The role of Mine Geologist - Underground is a key position in the mining industry, requiring a strong understanding of geology and its application to mine operations.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist - Underground to conduct day-to-day mine geology activities, including face mapping, sampling, and updating plans and sections with geology data. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting geological surveys, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to improve mine operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct geological surveys and collect structural measurements on each face, wall, and backs mapping.
* Assist with wall and backs mapping of all capital and ore development to ensure regulatory compliance, monitor geotechnical conditions, and build knowledge of the deposit.
* Collect core logging data and interpret the deposit's structure, lithology, alteration, and mineralisation through quality face and wall mapping, sampling, and core logging.
* Document and communicate underground geology activities to the Technical team.
* Provide geological information to support reporting of daily and weekly ore underground trucking movement and surface stockpile balances.
* Design and supervise underground drilling programs as required.
* Produce high-quality geological logging of GC diamond core and plan/section interpretation.
* Collaborate with the Technical and Mining teams to ensure delivery of the daily plan, weekly plan, and 3-month schedule.
* Provide instruction and training for Graduate Geologists.
About You / Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Geology or equivalent.
* Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role.
* Experience with mining software: Micromine, Leapfrog, Geobank.
* Member of AIG, AusIMM or similar body.
* Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety Act & Regulations.
* ERT experience and willingness to join OBM's ERT is preferred.
* Current WA manual driver's licence.
* Current First Aid certificate.
