Our client has developed a reputation for being an industry leader when it comes to efficiency and productivity, operating one of the largest sugar mills in Australia. Quality raw sugar and by products such as molasses as well as renewable energy are all produced at the site.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Production Manager you will provide technical advice and support in relation to a wide range of production, continuous improvement and capital project aspects of the operation. The primary focus of this role will be on the processing area of factory which encompasses a diverse range of automated, and steam supported plant such as heaters, clarifiers, filters, evaporators, crystallisers, vacuum pans, centrifugals, dryers as well as effluent and water treatment plant & equipment.
During the peak production period the factory operates on a continuous 24 X 7 basis for approximately six months of the year, and your key responsibilities will include:
· Assist the Production Manager & Assistant Production Manager with ensuring throughput, quality, efficiency, safety and environmental targets are achieved
· Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving issues impacting on production
· Undertake relief shift supervisor responsibilities which include leading a team of ten operator and laboratory personnel
· Identify, investigate and recommend where factory improvements can be made.
During the remainder of the year when the factory is closed for maintenance and capital project work your primary responsibilities will include:
· Assist with the review and planning for the next peak production season
· Develop and review operating procedures and processes
· Contribute to the development and implementation of capital projects
· Assist with co-ordinating work groups undertaking vessel cleaning and maintenance tasks
Key Requirements:
· Proven experience undertaking a technical role providing support to production for a manufacturing or similar operation.
· Highly effective technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills including the ability to investigate and resolve a variety of production and quality issues.
· Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement improvements to optimise production performance and work processes.
· Proven ability to ensure Health, Safety & Environment procedures and practises are being embraced and adhered to.
· Effective leadership skills including the ability to including provide technical direction and support to a production team.
· Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and consolidate and disseminate a wide range of production data.
· Proficiency with using computer systems and programs, including the ability to: interpret production data and trends via control systems,' use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (In particular SAP) and use a range of Microsoft Office programs,
· Tertiary qualifications in the Chemical Engineering or similar field
