The Role
As One Of Our Local Laws Officers, you will inform and educate the community on issues relating to animal management and local laws, handle, collect and transport a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and livestock, investigate and resolve breaches of local laws and other relevant legislation, issue compliance orders, official warnings and infringement notices, and prepare written reports and documentation to a high standard.
This position is based at Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub, but will involve traveling to locations across the Greater Bendigo region. You will work Monday – Friday for a period of 3.5 hours per day and participate in after‐hours and on‐call roster services.
Responsibilities
* Inform and educate the community on animal management and local laws.
* Handle, collect and transport a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and livestock.
* Investigate and resolve breaches of local laws and other relevant legislation, including the Domestic Animals Act and the Impounding of Livestock Act.
* Issue compliance orders, official warnings and infringement notices.
* Prepare written reports and documentation to a high standard.
About You
* Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‐solving skills.
* Experience in animal management compliance activities or a similar regulatory environment.
* Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, relevant Acts and local laws.
* Strong time‐management and organisation skills.
* Enjoy working in a team environment.
A satisfactory police check, employee Working with Children Check and current driver's licence are required for this position.
