OverviewWater Treatment Plant Operator - NorthernClassification GVW2: $58,500 - $78,532 + SuperGoulburn Valley Region Water CorporationAbout the roleGoulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria.
Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
We are looking for a Water Treatment Operator to join the Northern Water Treatment team and help ensure the continuous supply of safe, clean drinking water to our customers.Based in Shepparton or Cobram, you will work with the Corporation's Water Treatment Plants and facilities spanning our Shepparton and Cobram service areas.
You will be responsible for providing the community with safe and quality water at sites including Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura, Kyabram, Tongala, Rushworth and Murchison through to Cobram, Numurkah, Nathalia and surrounding towns.
You will operate and maintain treatment systems, participate in construction of new works, and assist with preventive and routine maintenance while ensuring delivery of quality water services.
You will also perform regular administrative tasks and respond to customer queries and service complaints.
Sound information technology skills and/or the ability to learn new systems are required to assist in the operation of our treatment plants.There is no minimum qualification required to start, but water industry training to work on water networks will be provided.
The work is outdoors and hands-on; a solid safety focus is essential.
We welcome both experienced operators and those transitioning from related skills who are motivated to learn.About youTo be considered you should demonstrate some of the following:Certificate 3 Water Industry Treatment is preferred, or willingness to completeUnderstanding of (or interest in learning) hydraulics and mechanical plantExperience in resolving customer enquiries with a strong customer focusPhysically capable of operating and maintaining water treatment assetsAbility to perform mathematical calculations and interpret resultsWillingness to work rostered overtime and be available for emergency call outStrong OHS commitment and team orientationAbility to work with computer-based technology and learn new systemsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skillsAdaptable, hands-on, enjoy outdoor work and all weather conditionsPlease note all applicants must be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or visa holder eligible to work in Australia and hold a current driver's licence.Where you'll be workingBased in the Greater Shepparton region and surrounding towns; details available on request.
