About The Role
Say goodbye to billable hours and timesheets! Due to growth, BDO’s in-house legal team is recruiting a full-time, junior to mid-level commercial lawyer. This role offers the chance to learn from experienced legal professionals across various practice areas. It suits lawyers wanting to maintain a broad commercial practice and serve as trusted legal advisers.
You may be based in Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney. The role is hybrid, with a mix of in-office and remote work.
Responsibilities
* Drafting and advising on client and commercial contracts; negotiate and manage complex agreements.
* Assist with legal matters including privacy, regulatory issues, employment law, investigations, disputes, litigation, and special projects.
* Research legal issues and support senior lawyers; deepen understanding of legal principles and provide commercial advice.
* Provide company secretarial support and gain exposure to corporate governance.
* Update the business on legal developments and provide training, translating complex legal concepts into practical guidance.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor, eligible to practice in an Australian State or Territory.
* Likely 2-4 years PQE, private practice experience preferred.
* Interest in contracts and commercial law, maintaining a broad practice.
* Strong research, analysis, and interpretation skills to develop practical solutions.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
