This is a unique opportunity to join at the ground level of a recently established organisation following the major acquisitions of 2 premier businesses ($2bn ). They are an ambitious organisation with significant growth plans, both locally and internationally. ROLE OVERVIEW: Newly created Chief Information Officer (CIO) position, joining at the ground level to build out the IT strategy and internal capability which will shape and transform the corporate technology function. Reporting to a member of the senior leadership team and engaging with the Board, you will take a strategic role in providing advisory, planning, and guidance on how to best transform IT in alignment with business objectives. It is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of the design and execution of a major IT uplift to drive the business forward. Key deliverables: Assess current IT capabilities then prepare an IT strategy for a major IT uplift, encompassing people, process, and technology, and present to the Board for approval. Budget preparation and justification for Board approval. Plan and execute on the integration of 2 major acquisitions. Modernise current IT Infrastructure (rearchitect, upgrade, and/or replace). Determine resourcing needs and make key technology hires. Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a technology vision and strategy in alignment business objectives. Work closely with the CEO, the Board, and senior leadership team as a trusted technology advisor. Team Leadership & Development : Hire, manage, and develop a high-performing IT team. Budget & Resource Management : Develop and manage the IT budget for ongoing and future needs. Operational Excellence : ensure the availability, reliability, and security of all IT systems and infrastructure, including BCP & DR. IT Project Management - take a lead role in the planning and execution of IT projects and initiatives. IT Security, Governance, and Compliance : Work with the CISO to ensure data integrity, security, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Vendor & Stakeholder Management : Manage relationships and negotiate with external vendors. Innovation : Identify and implement innovative and secure technologies that improve business processes and drive competitive advantage. REQUIRED BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / PERSONAL QUALITIES: Suitable for a hands-on CIO / Head of Technology experienced at 'rolling up their sleeves' to create then implement an IT strategy and budget for large-scale IT uplifts. Someone hands-off running and directing large teams to deliver will not be suitable. Ideal for an IT leader excited to join an ambitious and premier organisation who are undertaking a major technology uplift and transformation. Qualifications: Experience : 10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position (e.g., CIO, Head of IT). Proven track record : Demonstrated success developing and driving IT strategies that have supported organisational growth, technology uplift, and operational efficiency. Expertise in IT infrastructure & Architecture, and Information Security. Strong business acumen : Ability to link technology initiatives to business objectives, understand financials, and the commercial impact of IT decisions. Leadership skills : Strong leadership and team-building capabilities with a track record of motivating, managing, and developing high-performance teams. Communication skills : ability to distil the message, eliminated unnecessary complexity, and communicate in a succinct, easy-to-understand, and commercially manner to C-suite and Board members. Project Management : Strong experience delivering large-scale IT projects, including the ability to manage scope, budgets, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. Industry experience : background in government regulated critical infrastructure such as transportation, digital infrastructure, hospitals, telecommunications (or similar). Full-time permanent role offering $270,000 - $300,000 (including super) up to 20% performance-based bonus potential - depending on experience.
