* $85,415 – $96,138 + 12% Superannuation + $8,000 EHO Allowance (salary negotiable based on experience)

Our Community Wellbeing Branch delivers a wide range of community-focused services—from maternal and child health to youth, aged care and family support—ensuring all Melburnians can access the care and opportunities they need to thrive.
As part of this branch, the Health Team plays a critical role in protecting and promoting public health across the municipality.
We identify and monitor health risks, inspect businesses for legislative compliance, and respond to public health issues, all while keeping community wellbeing at the centre of our work.
We are seeking an experienced and committed Environmental Health Officer to join one of our three regulatory teams within the Health Team.

A little more about the role
* Investigate public health complaints and collect samples for analysis
* Assess and monitor food safety programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of inspections and regulatory activities
* Contribute to council-led health programs, policy development and emergency response initiatives
* Provide expert regulatory advice and guidance to businesses, stakeholders and the community
* You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team of Team Leaders, Senior Environmental Health Officers and Environmental Health Technicians, collaborating to protect and enhance community health and wellbeing.
* Conduct inspections and compliance assessments across food, water and public health premises

About you
You bring a solid foundation in environmental health, supported by strong technical expertise and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
You communicate clearly and confidently, enabling you to provide sound advice to businesses and community members.
With strong attention to detail, you maintain high-quality records and demonstrate professional judgement in regulatory decision-making.
You enjoy working as part of a team, value collaboration, and are motivated by making a positive difference to public health outcomes
What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria
* Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment, contributing positively to team goals, processes and culture
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, corporate policies and procedures
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, the public and commercial stakeholders
* Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification, with eligibility for membership of Environmental Health Australia
* Current full Victorian Driver Licence
