About the Opportunity
Goulburn Base Hospital is seeking a motivated Scientific Officer to join our team on a permanent full‑time basis. This role involves performing diagnostic testing and supporting laboratory operations to ensure high‑quality patient care.
Goulburn is located 2 hrs south of Sydney and 1 hr north of Canberra, declared Australia's first inland city.

What You'll Be Doing
* Contribute to a high‑quality pathology service by performing a range of pre‑analytical duties including pathology collections, receiving and triaging of specimens, patient registration and request entry.
* Prepare specimens for transport or delivery to laboratories for timely, accurate diagnostic testing.
* Maintain pre‑analytical equipment and ensure data accuracy with strong computer skills.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrate problem‑solving and analytical skills to investigate and resolve general issues.
* Adhere to confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in line with legislation, policies and requirements.
* Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays and night shifts, and be willing to travel to any site within the operational area as required.
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Pathology, Pathology Collections or Pathology Assistance, or equivalent experience in a pathology setting.
* Demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the pre‑analytical environment, including phlebotomy.
* Proven ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment with competing priorities and time constraints.
